Part-Time Afterschool & Summer Camp Assistant
Palmetto Preschool – Myrtle Grove | Wilmington, NC

Do you enjoy working with school-age children, staying active, and creating fun experiences that kids will remember?

Palmetto Preschool is seeking a dependable and energetic Afterschool & Summer Camp Assistant to join our Myrtle Grove team. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships with children, leading activities, and being part of a fun, team-oriented environment.

Schedule:
Monday–Friday
12:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Part-Time
No nights or weekends

This role supports our Afterschool Program during the school year, helps cover lunch breaks in the center, and transitions into our Summer Camp Program when school is out. Summer camp includes field trips, special activities, outdoor play, and adventures that keep every day exciting.

What You'll Do:

• Assist with daily afterschool and summer camp activities
• Help supervise school-age children in a safe and engaging environment
• Support homework time, games, crafts, outdoor play, and special events
• Assist with field trips and transportation activities
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and fun environment

Driver Requirements:

• Must be at least 22 years old
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Clean driving record required
• Comfortable driving a small childcare bus to transport children to and from local schools and field trips
• No CDL or special license required
  

Qualifications:

• EDU 119 (Introduction to Early Childhood Education) required or Willing to enroll in and successfully complete EDU 119 within six months of employment
• Previous childcare, camp, coaching, education, or youth program experience preferred
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to engage and interact with school-age children
• Ability to work as part of a team
