TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Winston Salem, North Carolina, 27157!
Job Title: RN - Peds PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year required, 2 years preferred in critical care pediatrics License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: First-time travelers will not be accepted. Description: RN - Peds PACU position available. This unit has 20 bays and an average census of 30-40 patients per day. The primary patient population includes pediatric patients aged 0-17. Patients are primarily inpatient but also outpatient. This unit covers most surgical specialties except cardiac procedures. Patient ratios are RN: 1:1 or 1:2, depending on acuity. The following certifications are required: BLS and PALS. Candidates must be comfortable managing medications commonly seen in ICU, including heparin and insulin. There is limited use of BiPAP, which is primarily in a post-operative setting. Occasional care for adult patients may be necessary based on unit needs. Candidates should be self-motivated, resourceful, and team-oriented. The unit operates with an all-hands-on-deck mentality, as it is an open bay unit. Support is available within the department through transport staff and dedicated charge/management personnel who do not take patients. Anesthesia is available 24/7, and nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring. Technology and equipment used include EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, and patient monitors.
