As a Garden Crew Leader, you will oversee a team of gardeners, manage schedules, assign tasks, ensure top-quality work, and provide excellent customer service. Strong leadership, communication, and organization skills are essential in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Sowing, cultivation, and propagation of plants, trees, and shrubs
  • Application of chemical and organic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers
  • Trimming, pruning, and general plant care 
  • Soil management tasks, including amending and grading
  • Routine cleaning, weeding, and debris removal
  • Digging, lifting, and operating small machinery
  • Loading and unloading tools and equipment from trucks and trailers
  • Moving and installing soil, mulch, and plant material to assist with garden construction
  • Working efficiently and safely with urgency and purpose
  • Communicating with clients in a professional, polite, and courteous manner

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in the landscape garden industry preferred
  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective communication skills – must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and crouch for long periods outdoors in various conditions, including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
  • A valid driver's license is required for employment. Also, applicants must be able to be added to the company insurance policy

Compensation

  • Expect 40 – 50 hours per week in season (Approximately March 1 – December 15) and 40 hours out of season (weather dependent)
  • Pay starts between $21.00 and $25.00+ per hour, depending on experience
