Overview
Rock Grading is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Shop Lead to oversee the maintenance, repair, and performance of our machinery fleet. This hands-on role ensures all equipment — heavy machinery, work trucks, trailers, and pickups — operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support our crews and overall jobsite productivity.

Responsibilities
• Perform and schedule inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on skid steers, dingos, mini-excavators, trucks, trailers, and other fleet equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Document maintenance and repairs, keeping accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
• Coordinate shop operations, prioritize work orders, and communicate effectively with field and operations teams.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that meets company and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
• Proven experience in heavy equipment, truck, and trailer repair and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools to identify and correct issues.
• Welding competency required; structural welding certification is a significant plus.
• Familiarity with OEM specifications (CAT experience preferred).
• Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication or repair techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and leadership abilities.
• Physically able to perform repair-related tasks, including lifting and manual labor.
