Job Purpose
Provide clinical services, customary documentation, and coordination of services with other providers for adult and adolescent clients; especially those insured by Medicaid and state funds. In addition, oversee all clinical programming and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities include:
• Providing initial evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy, and individual and group psychoeducation and skills training for adult and adolescent clients.
• Coordinating services for clients at Burke Recovery with services provided by other agencies (such as primary care physicians, psychiatrists, other counselors, probation and law enforcement officers, and social services and child protective agencies) as much as possible and with clients' and guardians' consent.
• Providing emergency screenings, referrals, and treatment for walk-in and already established clients. Such services are, by definition, unscheduled and unpredictable; they may on occasion require a counselor to work beyond ordinary business hours.
• Documenting services rendered in accordance with state and federal law, regulations of sources of funding for Burke Recovery, and the policy and procedures manual of Burke Recovery, under the direction and administrative supervision of the Executive Director. The clinician will produce documentation that is complete, accurate, grammatically correct, legible, and neat in a timely fashion without delegating any aspect of this task to other staff members. The clinician will complete documentation within 24 hours of a treatment event utilizing the electronic health record and any other required documentation methods.
• Administering, scoring, and interpreting, to clients, psychometric instruments as required to diagnose their problems and to measure progress and treatment.
• Administering, reading, and interpreting, to clients, the results of urine drug screens as required to ensure treatment compliance and at the request of clients and referral sources.
• Providing a weekly record of billable events to Burke Recovery staff responsible for billing according to customary billing procedures at Burke Recovery.
• Administering training and administrative supervision to all clinical staff as needed or requested by the Executive Director.
• Coordinating and leading clinical staff meetings as necessary and appropriate. In addition, attending general staff meetings when scheduled.

• Coordinating with the Executive Director to monitor and assess all clinical programs on a continual basis.
• Working collaboratively with all other staff at Burke Recovery.
• Abiding by the codes of ethics of the NC Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), and any other boards or associations granting licenses, certifications, or other privileges to the clinician; abiding by all relevant federal and state laws and regulations of sources of funding for Burke Recovery; and abiding by the policy and procedures manual of Burke Recovery.
• Maintaining some community involvement through Burke Substance Abuse Network (BSAN).
• Other duties as assigned.
Critical skills and competencies include:
• Having excellent skills in working with people of all ages, races and levels of education and ability;
• Being familiar with and following the policies and procedures of Burke Recovery;
• Maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with all staff members;
• Understanding the boundaries of the position and seeking direction and approval when appropriate;
• Serving as a representative of Burke Recovery in all public interactions - specifically during scheduled work hours and while serving as an agency representative with other organizations;
• Maintaining and demonstrating basic computer skills (see below);
• Demonstrating superior proficiency in written English;
• Clinician's writing must show few, if any, mistakes in spelling, grammar, word choice, standard page layout, and or typing.
Staff of Burke Recovery are not required to have personal or family experience with alcoholism, chemical dependency and/or recovery. If, however, support staff do have such experience, they must be willing to confront countertransference issues as they arise in their work. Such issues are routinely discussed in supervision. The Executive Director may sometimes refer supervised employees to therapists for further exploration of personal issues that impact their work.

Qualifications
Education
• Master's Degree
Licensure
• Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS)
Clinicians holding Provisional licenses are expected to be working toward full licensure .
Certifications/Training
• First Aid, CPR, NCI, PAWS (or equivalent)
Computer Skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel, etc.);
• Proficiency with online navigation (including Google mail [Gmail], Docs, and Sheets);
