Site Safety Supervisor - Construction
D. H. Griffin Infrastructure has an immediate opening for an experienced Site Safety Supervisor in NC with a background in heavy civil Construction.
The Site Safety Supervisor will work closely with the Corporate Safety Department and field operations to improve or maintain all areas of occupational safety & health performance for projects assigned.
You will be providing support to the project management team, superintendents, foremen and workers. This position coordinates the day-to-day safety requirements of the assigned project. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry (particularly commercial, heavy civil construction or industrial construction) and understand the specific safety issues inherent to construction sites. The job includes significant field work throughout the state of NC, so flexibility and reliability are a must.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Provide support to the project by maintaining a visible presence to the field performing independent site walks and identify an array of safety issues.
· Communicate (verbal and/or written) with Safety Director and Client Representatives to ensure they are informed of safety matters at the job sites.
· Utilize OSHA 1926 and other applicable regulations.
· Ensure general contractor’s compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
· Attend project meetings and address safety issues with staff.
· Ensure that all incidents are reported immediately.
· Advise contractor and supervisor of non-compliance issues, including preparing recommendations based on findings.
· Host daily safety meeting with employees on the job site.
· Communicate, coach and assist the field staff to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
· Initiate follow-up on safety issues to ensure compliance.
· Recommend programs, policies and processes to manage construction safety.
· Ensure new hires are orientated to the site safety program, and all required documentation is completed accurately and forwarded to the Safety Director.
· Ensuring jobsite compliance with all federal and state health and safety regulations
· Preparing site specific safety plans, and managing pre-task planning and Job Hazard Analysis program for project
· Safety inspection of job site and correction of any deficiencies
· Teach safety-related classes and perform accident investigations; investigate near-misses.
· Accident investigation thru root cause analysis, Participate and assist the Superintendent and foreman in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions where necessary.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety with emphasis on behavioral based safety programs and fundamentals of safety leadership.
· Experience on heavy civil construction projects preferred, with Confined Space and Trenching & Excavation.
· Knowledge of and ability to effectively interpret and use all applicable Federal and State occupational safety regulations, as well as ANSI, NFPA, NEC and other non-regulatory safety codes and standards
· OSHA 510 required, OSHA 500/502 preferred
· Competency Trainer for Fall Protection, Excavation and Trenching
· Must Possess a valid state driver’s license.
· Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Able to enter confined spaces.
· First Aid/CPR certification.
· Position may include weekend or night work.
· May include working permanently on a job site.
