Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: Required Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - General Med/Tele skillset - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Trach care - PIV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) - PCA pumps - Medication gtt management (Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF) Description: The position is for an RN in MedSurg/Tele. The facility has 207 licensed beds with no trauma designation and is not a teaching hospital. It is a chest pain center and a stroke center. Travelers must be based 50 miles outside of the home unit. The unit will have variable bed numbers based on need. Patient types include Med/Tele, and diagnoses may include CHF, COPD, chest pain workups, strokes, and respiratory issues. Patients will be assigned to specific units on the first day of orientation. The RN-to-patient ratio is generally 1:5-6, with a potential surge ratio of 1:7-8. The ratio for CNAs is 1:6-12. Support within the department includes CNAs, receptionists, and HUCs. Charge nurses may or may not have patient assignments. Phlebotomy assistance is available for peripheral blood draws. IV/VAT teams are present during certain hours. Hospitalist and intensivist coverage is available around the clock. Telemetry monitoring is provided using specialized technology. Travelers may be required to float to various units as needed. Travelers will be compensated for travel time between facilities if necessary. Weekend rotations will occur every other week. Travelers are expected to work a majority of holidays. Requests for time off will be approved up to a limited number of days, excluding holidays. The schedule cycle is every six weeks. Scrub color is navy.
