Asset Services Engineer
- Support U.S. and international customers, serving as the primary point of contact for technical questions related to installed equipment and service requirements.
- Perform onsite and offsite inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for high-voltage equipment, including instrument transformers, coils, reactors, and related assets.
- Coordinate spare parts sourcing, service planning, and customer scheduling activities.
- Conduct preliminary issue assessments and provide technical analysis to support problem resolution.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, startup, and acceptance activities for new equipment deployments.
- Conduct customer site visits to assess equipment condition and define service scopes.
- Provide technical recommendations and support preparation of quotations, schedules, and service proposals.
- Deliver technical support and training to customers and service partners regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and industry best practices.
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, and condition assessments for customer-installed equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis investigations related to equipment performance, reliability, and service concerns.
- Support warranty and non-warranty customer cases through resolution by coordinating with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and third-party partners.
- Document service findings, corrective actions, recommendations, and technical observations through detailed service reports.
- Support field reliability initiatives aimed at improving product performance and asset lifecycle management.
- Assist in identifying trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for continuous product and service improvements.
- Collaborate closely with Service Operations, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales teams to enhance customer satisfaction and service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, safety standards, and field service procedures during all service activities.
- Maintain service tools, testing equipment, documentation, and records in good working order.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on customer experience, field reliability, safety, and operational excellence.
- Support development and implementation of service processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Contribute to the growth and development of HSP US's service organization and aftermarket capabilities.
- Travel frequently to customer sites across the United States and Canada based on business requirements.
- Represent HSP US professionally during customer visits, inspections, outages, commissioning projects, and technical meetings.
- Build strong relationships with customers through responsive communication and technical expertise.
- Support emergency service requests and customer-critical situations when required.
- Technical diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Solid knowledge of high-voltage technology and power transmission systems.
- Previous hands-on experience working with high-voltage equipment, instrument transformers, coils, reactors, bushings, or related electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical testing, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- A strong hands-on mentality and practical experience working with tools and field-testing equipment.
- Experience performing field service activities, inspections, commissioning, startup support, and warranty investigations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, engineering documents, and service procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in dynamic field environments while managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with safety standards and field service best practices within industrial, utility, or power system environments.
- Experience with SAP or other service management systems is considered an asset.
- Previous experience within utility, power transmission, energy, transformer, or manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout North America.
- Valid driver's license required.
