Job Summary

A Technician II installs, maintains, and repairs commercial door and dock equipment at customer locations. The role requires mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a safety-first mindset, and a strong commitment to customer service. Technicians work both independently and collaboratively to complete scheduled service calls and installations. Quality workmanship, clear communication, and professional conduct are key to success in this position.

Essential job Functions

1. Install, service, and maintain commercial dock and door equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
2. Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on a wide range of dock and door equipment, including rolling and sectional doors.
3. Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to fabricate brackets, mounts, and other installation hardware as needed.
4. Maintain a safe and clean job site, comply with all company safety policies, industry regulations, and adhere to all traffic laws and vehicle safety standards while operating company equipment.
5. Read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to assist with equipment diagnostics and repair.
6. Document all service activities, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance or repair.
7. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, providing updates on job status and explaining any additional service needs.
8. Assist team members with larger installations or service calls as needed and remain flexible to support changing priorities and schedules.
9. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations, including proper use of PPE and fall protection.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems related to commercial door and dock equipment is essential for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
2. Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment is required for the effective installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manuals is critical for accurate troubleshooting and equipment setup.
4. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and proper use of PPE ensures a safe working environment on all job sites.
5. Skill in communicating effectively with customers and team members supports strong client relationships and team collaboration.
6. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to shifting schedules is necessary to succeed in a dynamic field service environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Regular fieldwork at indoor and outdoor customer sites.
• Extended periods in varying environmental conditions, including weather and noise.
• Frequent standing, bending, ladder use, and operation of hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Planned Business Travel

• This job requires less than 10% planned business travel.
• This job requires vehicle travel to client sites.

Education and Experience

• Graduated from the Technician I level course work in the Advance Program, or a Level 2 assessment to be approved based on Advance program.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Trade school certificate or diploma is acceptable.
• Experience with the following is preferred: Welding, Mechanical Knowledge, Hydraulic knowledge, and Electrical.
• Previous Dock and Door Industry experience is preferred.
• A valid current state-issued driver’s license is required.
