Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer 4 to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves designing, building, and productionizing Generative AI (GenAI) applications end-to-end. The ideal candidate will lead the development of robust LangChain/LangGraph agentic workflows, high-quality RAG pipelines, and scalable microservices on Google Vertex AI. This position requires a hands-on approach to system design, implementation, MLOps, observability, and governance, working closely with product, data, security, and platform teams to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-efficient AI products. Responsibilities:

• Design multi-step agentic workflows using LangGraph and LangChain.
• Build guardrails for input/output filtering, red teaming hooks, and observability tools.
• Develop and manage RAG pipelines, including ingestion pipelines, retrieval strategies, and domain-specific adapters.
• Productionize services on Google Vertex AI and containerize with Docker, orchestrate with Kubernetes/GKE, and automate with CI/CD tools.
• Build user-facing applications and backends, including authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.
• Define and automate GenAI evaluation metrics such as relevance, faithfulness, hallucination rate, and latency.
• Implement data privacy controls, policy enforcement, and cost optimization strategies.
• Establish best practices for prompt patterns, orchestration, testing, and model lifecycle management.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product/design teams to scope features and deliver impactful solutions.

Qualifications:

• 7 to 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3 to 5+ years in applied ML/GenAI building production systems.
• Expertise in LangChain and LangGraph, including tools, agents, state graphs, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Google Vertex AI, including foundational models, endpoints, pipelines, and vector search.
• Strong RAG practitioner with experience in chunking strategies, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, and evaluation.
• Deep knowledge of vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, and FAISS.
• Proficiency in Python (FastAPI) or Node.js for backends, and React/Next.js for front-end development.
• Solid cloud experience (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure a plus), Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of GenAI evaluation, observability, and prompt/version management.
• Knowledge of security and governance, including PII handling, data residency, and prompt injection defenses.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with knowledge graphs, retrieval planning, and tool former/agent patterns.
• LLM serving and routing, including Guardrails and function/tool calling integrations.
• Experience with LlamaIndex and structured RAG (SQL/Graph RAG).

Pay Range: $65 - $75 on W2
