Wound Care RN Job Details

• Job Title: Locum Tenens Wound Care Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Location: Wilmington, NC 28401 (North Carolina travel nursing job)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital-based Wound and Ostomy Services
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (August 25, 2025 – November 24, 2025)
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8-hour day shifts)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2010–$2060 per week
• Call/Float/Weekend Requirement: None
• Unit Orientation: Provided, variable based on experience

Wound Care RN Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of wound care nursing experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state (must be in hand by start date)
• BLS certification required
• WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing) certification required
• Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system required
• Hospital and pediatric wound care experience preferred
• Preferred: ACLS, WCC certifications; previous charge nurse experience; trauma level I/II experience
• Expertise in wound/ulcer assessment, wound management, ostomy care, pressure ulcer staging, and wound vac therapy
• Strong patient/family education and interdisciplinary communication skills

Wound Care RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive wound and ostomy care for neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients
• Perform wound vac therapy, conservative debridement, and manage complex wounds
• Conduct pressure ulcer risk assessments (Braden scale), wound/ulcer staging, and implement prevention strategies
• Manage ostomy equipment selection, colostomy/ileostomy care, and continence skin care
• Apply a variety of wound treatments and dressings (alginates, foams, hydrocolloids, enzymatic agents, etc.)
• Educate patients and families on wound care, ostomy management, and infection control best practices
• Document care and communicate effectively using EPIC, SBAR, and participate in daily huddles
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
