Organization Description: Vecinos is a non-profit, 501(c)3 Free Clinic that provides bilingual integrated primary and mental health care, mobile clinic services, health education, and case management to uninsured, low-income adults in the far-western NC counties. We offer a positive, supportive, and team-oriented atmosphere. We work in a non-traditional environment with limited resources. Schedules and hours vary throughout the year.

Purpose: The Emergency Resilience Project is a time-limited, two-year initiative designed to strengthen the ability of Vecinos, partner organizations, and low-income, uninsured communities to prepare for and respond to emergencies. The Emergency Resilience Project Coordinator supports the implementation and coordination of the Western NC Community Resiliency and Preparedness Initiative across six counties. Reporting to the Outreach and Special Programs Director, this position coordinates community trainings, partner activities, outreach efforts, and grant deliverables, ensuring work is completed on time and in alignment with community-led and culturally responsive principles. The Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for community members, partner organizations, and emergency preparedness collaborators.

Responsibilities

Program Implementation & Coordination

• Coordinate resilience planning sessions, bilingual trainings, and outreach activities across the six-county region.
• Support the completion of the After-Action Review and Emergency Preparedness Plan in collaboration with partners and external agencies.
• Assist with developing schedules, tracking deliverables, and supporting timely completion of grant activities.
• Ensure programming is community-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.

Partner & Community Engagement

• Coordinate logistics and communication with partner organizations, community groups, and county emergency management teams.
• Support joint trainings and planning sessions with community-based and governmental partners.
• Assist with engagement of community advisory board members and incorporate feedback into program activities.

Data, Documentation & Reporting Support

• Collect and track participation data, surveys, and outreach metrics.
• Maintain organized program records to support grant reporting and evaluation.
• Assist with preparing summaries, updates, and documentation for leadership and funders.

Operational & Logistical Support

• Coordinate logistics for trainings, meetings, mobile outreach, and emergency kit distribution.
• Track supplies, materials, and travel related to program activities.
• Support Resiliency Hub readiness activities and assist during emergency activations as needed.
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in public health, social work, emergency management, nonprofit management, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in Spanish and English, written and oral.
• Experience working with Latinx, migrant farmworker, rural, or underserved communities.
• At least 24 years of experience in community-based program coordination, outreach, or similar roles.
• Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and partnerships across a rural service area.
• Familiarity with disaster preparedness, public health outreach, or emergency response systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting grant-funded programs.
• Experience working in community health, emergency preparedness, or social services settings.
