Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS/Terraform)

Kforce has a client in Charlotte, NC that is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS/Terraform). Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our platform team, supporting applications running on AWS and assisting in a large-scale migration effort from on-premises Linux systems to AWS. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Terraform, Linux, AWS, and security best practices, with a proven track record of migrating workloads from on-prem to cloud environments. This is a hands-on role focused on building, modifying, and automating infrastructure deployments while ensuring compliance with IT security standards. Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute migration efforts from on-premises Linux systems to AWS, ensuring delivery before year-end deadlines
• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, leveraging CI/CD pipelines for automation
• Collaborate with internal AWS-experienced team members to streamline migration activities
• Integrate with Active Directory and manage code repositories in GitLab or Bitbucket
• Implement and manage security controls, including access controls and vulnerability management
• Support database migrations and administration for SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Develop and maintain scripts in Shell or Python to support automation and operational needs
• Assist in platform monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Ensure compliance with IT security's Spec Flow 2.0 standards across deployments
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform (infrastructure build and modification)
• Proven AWS migration experience from on-premises environments
• Database experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Experience with GitLab or Bitbucket for code repository management
• Proficiency with Linux systems administration
• Security expertise, including access controls and vulnerability remediation
• Scripting skills in Shell and/or Python

• Experience with Kubernetes orchestration
• Familiarity with Kafka for distributed messaging
