Oracle OIPA Engineer
Role Overview
The Oracle OIPA Engineer will be responsible for supporting Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) for the RiverSource business.
The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, analysts, and technology teams to design and implement scalable, compliant, and high-quality technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
The candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the full SDLC , including design, development, testing, governance, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design

Create low-level design documents and detailed engineering specifications.

Translate business, functional, and non-functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Participate in design walkthroughs and architectural reviews.

Evaluate application interdependencies and interface design.
Development & Code Quality
-
Develop and maintain OIPA solutions adhering to coding standards.

Write high-quality SQL (views, stored procedures, functions).
-
Work extensively with XML configurations within OIPA.

Participate in peer code reviews and governance reviews.
-
Maintain integrity of existing program logic.
Testing & QA Support
-
Unit test all code prior to QA release.

Support QA in test case identification and test data preparation.

Resolve issues identified during QA cycles.
Mentorship & Governance
-
Mentor junior developers.
-
Ensure adherence to development standards and architectural policies.
-
Influence standards, tools, and development practices.
Production Support & Optimization
-
Conduct root cause analysis for production issues.
-
Improve system performance, reliability, and resource utilization.
-
Track and remediate security or standards gaps.
-
Recommend preventative improvements.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
-
5-7+ years of OIPA experience
-
5-7 years of SQL & XML experience
-
2-3 years cloud development experience (AWS preferred)

CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Ansible)

SQL Server Management Studio

Strong SQL development skills (views, stored procedures, functions).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working in geographically distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications

Full-stack AWS development experience

UNIX/Linux shell scripting

Container technologies (Docker, EKS, ECS)

AI / MLOps exposure

Strong analytical & business translation skills

Experience designing within architectural constraints

Ability to apply modern engineering principles and tools
