As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA)division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure , you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact-driven environment .

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Mechanical Design Engineer Summer Internship beginning May 18, 2026. This program is based in Wendell, NC.

You’ll make an impact by:

• Supporting mechanical design and 3D modeling projects, including drawing updates and design revisions.
• Assisting with troubleshooting production support issues and implementing design improvements.
• Supporting requests for special tools and fixtures to improve production and assembly processes.
• Creating and updating engineering drawings and documentation for new and existing products.
• Collaborating with engineering and production teams to support prototype builds and hands-on development activities.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Candidates must not graduate prior to September 2026.
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during Summer 2026.
• Prior experience with the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Electrification & Automation division.
• Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with 3D modeling or drafting tools (SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD).
• Hands-on mechanical experience through coursework, labs, or projects.
• Exposure to production or manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with engineering systems (SAP, Teamcenter, or similar).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
• Willingness to learn tools, systems, and engineering processes.
