Senior Engagement/Volunteer Program Coordinator (Grant Funded)
Job Description
Job Description
Description:
We create exceptional theatre experiences, inspiring generations to explore the wonder of their world.
Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is driven in the belief that there is power behind simple acts of kindness. As we inspire generations to explore the wonder of our world, we desire to see the unique, amazing, expanding tapestry of this world and community reflected in all our programming, behind the scenes, and in our team members, board and volunteers.
What We Do…
CTC has grown to become a national leader in Theatre for Young Audiences. We serve nearly 250,000 young people and families throughout North and South Carolina and are dedicated to creating vibrant and engaging theatre experiences, both on the stage and in the classroom.
What You will do to help us build something that lasts…
Join us in creating a lasting legacy of engagement, connection, and community through the power of theatre. Children's Theatre of Charlotte is seeking an entrepreneurial, relationship-driven professional to lead an exciting one-year initiative focused on engaging older adults in the life of our organization.
This is not a traditional program management role.We are looking for a self-starter who loves building from the ground up—someone who can identify opportunities, cultivate partnerships, create systems, and develop strategies that will continue to thrive long after the position concludes. Over the course of one season, you will help Children's Theatre of Charlotte establish a sustainable framework for engaging adults age 55+ as audience members, volunteers, advocates, and community ambassadors. Your work will create lasting connections between older adults and one of the nation's leading theatres for young audiences.
If you enjoy meeting people, developing partnerships, launching new initiatives, and creating meaningful community impact, we would love to meet you.
Requirements:Grow Our Senior Audience/Grandparents Community
- Build relationships with 55+ residents, retirement communities, senior centers, lifelong learning programs, faith organizations, and community groups.
- Develop and execute strategies that encourage older adults/grandparents to attend performances with their families and participate in theatre experiences.
- Create outreach presentations, promotional materials, and engagement opportunities.
- Identify and pilot new experiences that make theatre accessible and appealing to older adults.
Build a Sustainable and Cross-generational Volunteer Program
- Recruit and engage older adults who want to share their time, talents, and experience as individuals or groups.
- Design and implement unique volunteer activities that connect volunteers with our artists, students, and mission-driven activities.
- Collaborate with various departments, especially with Marketing and Front of House, to match their operational needs with meaningful volunteer activities.
- Create onboarding, training, recognition, and retention systems that current staff can maintain after the project concludes.
- Establish volunteer management processes and best practices.
Create Lasting Infrastructure
- Develop toolkits, procedures, workflows, and resources that will serve the organization for years to come.
- Build a comprehensive network of community partners and contacts.
- Implement tracking systems and evaluation tools to measure success.
- Train staff to sustain and grow the initiative after the grant period ends.
What We Are Looking For...
You are a connector, builder, and problem-solver.
You enjoy meeting new people, forging partnerships, and turning ideas into reality. You are equally comfortable having coffee with a community leader, presenting to a group of retirees, creating a strategic plan, or building a spreadsheet to track results.
Most importantly, you are energized by the opportunity to create something meaningful that will have a lasting impact on an organization and its community. Successful candidates may have experience in:
- Community engagement
- Volunteer management
- Audience development
- Nonprofit leadership
- Senior services
- Arts administration
- Community organizing
- Education or outreach programs
We value transferable skills and welcome applicants from a variety of professional backgrounds.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our organization while strengthening connections throughout the Charlotte community. At the end of the year, your success will not simply be measured by programs delivered. It will be measured by the partnerships established, the systems created, and the sustainable foundation you leave behind.
Position Details, Compensation & Benefits
- Salary of $45,375 (eligible to participate in group medical plan)
- Project based, one-season, grant-funded position
- Hybrid, Flexible Schedule
- Some evening and weekend work may be required
- 403(b) Retirement Plan and Employer Match
- Tuition waiver for CTC education program
- Complimentary tickets to CTC performances
- Reports to Director of Marketing and Communications and Assistant Director, Audience Growth & Retention
Application Process:
Please submit your résumé and a cover letter (ideally in one document and in PDF format ). Application review will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
