Field Operator

Job Description

The Wilmington, NC site currently has an Chemical Operator opening in the Terate® Production area. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor. The successful candidate comes with prior experience in utilities operation, materials handling or a chemical manufacturing environment. The assignment works 12-hour rotating shift schedule with some overtime and the ability to adjust work schedule as needed to meet business needs.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

• Apply procedures, perform quality checks / inspections and take corrective actions per procedures (SOP's)
• Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot manufacturing processes to operate within specified parameters
• Ensure assigned area maintains compliance with all company and regulatory requirements
• Understand, apply and participate in Safe Work Practices to include: the issuing of safe work permits
• Unload designated raw materials per SOP as applicable
• Prepare equipment for routine maintenance; submit work notifications, perform fix-it-yourself tasks
• Demonstrate willingness to expand knowledge and skills; cross-train and certify in different operating areas
• Maintain proper housekeeping standards in operating areas, office, break areas, plant vehicles

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Valid driver’s license
• Experience in industrial utilities or chemical manufacturing operations
• Experience troubleshooting / applying mechanical skills for minor repairs on process equipment
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Skills:

• 2-year minimum experience in industrial utilities or chemical manufacturing
• Chemical material handling experience
• Experience moving and spotting railcars
• SAP experience
• Forklift certified

Required Physical Ability / Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time
• Able to perform tasks such as lifting (50 lbs.), walking, climbing stairs & ladders, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
• Work a rotating 12-hour shift, to provide on-call coverage and work overtime, as needed
• Required to successfully complete Physical abilities test (PAT)

Education

• High school diploma or GED
