Assistant Controller Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting processes. This role will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financials, maintain strong internal controls, and help drive process improvements across the accounting function. Responsibilities: • Assist in managing the month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and financial reporting • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP • Partner with operational teams to track project performance, analyze costs, and monitor profitability • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis and reporting on key drivers • Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance across financial processes • Support audit processes and coordinate with external auditors as needed • Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting to support business planning • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement • Assist in the oversight and development of accounting staff • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across systems and workflows Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience • Experience working in a project-based or operationally focused environment is a plus • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting • CPA is not required but preferred • Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills • Ability to analyze data, think critically, and communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance teams • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment ********Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
