Laboratory Support Supervisor
Supervise the work of subordinate personnel in non-analytic areas of the laboratory to include phlebotomy, specimen management, courier services, send out services.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of subordinate personnel.
- Staff that they will supervise will be approximately 15-20 clinical technicians/phlebotomists with one who is over the referral area.
- Supervise and participate, as needed, in the more complex procedures and problem solving within functional area.
- Provide technical assistance, instruction and consultation to students and employees.
- Participate in the development of new procedures, processes and techniques for collection, handling and/or transport of laboratory specimens.
- Evaluate and modify workflow patterns and prepare reports outlining appropriate recommendations and conclusions.
- Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Ability to supervise.

- Work requires an educational background generally equivalent to a high school education.
- Minimal educational or experience requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) director if minimal CLIA requirements are met by the employee for the tasks being performed.
- If the position is in a specimen handling area orsend out area, 5 years If the position is in a courier area, 5 years of experience in transport of materials.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Phlebotomy certification by a nationally recognized organization is required if the position is in a phlebotomy area.
- A valid NC driver?s license is required for courier area.
- Work hours will mainly be days with the expectation of adjusting hours to work other shifts if there are call outs or off-shift meetings, education and/or training that is required.
