This is an opportunity to join a local, family-owned general excavating contractor based in West Jefferson, NC. The company specializes in essential residential and small commercial projects, including development roads, new construction, driveways, and septic installations. The Opportunity
The company is seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Manager/Estimator to be a key leader in their operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful execution of excavating projects, from the initial bid through final closeout. You will be the central point of contact, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Plan and execute all phases of a project, including managing contracts, insurance, permitting, utility tickets, safety programs, scheduling, and equipment allocation.
- Cost Management: Monitor project costs (labor, material, equipment, subcontractors), identify opportunities for efficiency and savings, and manage and document project change orders.
- Collaboration & Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the project team, subcontractors, and clients. Provide clear, regular communication to management regarding project scope, performance, and adherence to safety and company policies.
- Site & Team Oversight: Collaborate closely with superintendents and foremen to direct daily project activities. Commitment to being present at job sites daily to ensure progress and quality.
- Reporting & Compliance: Report project progress and budget updates to clients. Maintain detailed logs of all safety meetings and ensure accurate time tracking for each project via t-sheets.
- Closeout Excellence: Drive the project closeout process, including punch list completion and required documentation, to ensure an orderly and efficient transition. Represent the Excavating Company in all project meetings.
