Electrical Testing Tech
Remote | Nationwide Travel Required
We are partnering with a growing engineering and field services organization looking to expand its electrical testing team across the United States.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on electrical testing professional who enjoys commissioning, troubleshooting, and testing critical power equipment. Projects will include utility substations, industrial facilities, renewable energy sites, EPC developments, and mission-critical data centers.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform acceptance testing, maintenance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical power equipment. • Test transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, cables, CTs, PTs, grounding systems, batteries, and associated apparatus. • Carry out testing such as primary and secondary injection, insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, excitation, turns ratio, winding resistance, VLF, and Hi-Pot testing. • Support utility, industrial, renewable energy, and data center power projects. • Read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications. • Identify equipment issues, document test results, and provide clear field reports. • Coordinate with customers, engineers, contractors, and field teams to deliver projects safely and successfully. • Follow company, customer, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
• 3+ years of electrical testing, apparatus testing, commissioning, or substation experience. • Hands-on experience testing medium- or high-voltage electrical equipment. • Experience using testing equipment from manufacturers such as Doble, Megger, Omicron, Vanguard, or similar. • Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot power distribution equipment. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in the field. • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
Preferred Experience
• Experience testing transformers, breakers, switchgear, cables, or grounding systems. • Experience with primary injection, secondary injection, power factor, VLF, Hi-Pot, or insulation resistance testing. • Utility, industrial, renewable energy, EPC, or data center project experience. • Familiarity with NETA ATS or MTS testing standards. • Experience using PowerDB or similar electrical testing software. • NETA certification or relevant electrical training is beneficial but not required.
What’s on Offer
• Hourly pay range $50 - $90 plus per diem. • Exposure to utility, renewable energy, industrial, and mission-critical data center projects. • Opportunity to enter the growing data center market without requiring previous data center experience. • Long-term career progression with a rapidly expanding organization. • Opportunities to develop into senior, lead, or supervisory positions. • A safety-focused and technically driven team environment. This opportunity would suit an electrical testing technician, apparatus technician, commissioning technician, substation technician, or field service technician looking for stronger earning potential, varied project work, and exposure to some of the fastest-growing areas of the electrical power industry.
