• Location: Asheville, NC 28801
• Healthcare Setting: Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract Nursing)
• Start Date: October 20, 2025
• End Date: January 19, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Hours per Week: 40
• Shift: 5:30 AM – 3:00 PM (8-hour day shifts)
• Weekend Call: 1-2 times per 6-week schedule
• Unit Size: 30 Preop Bays, 16 Phase 2 Bays
• Patient Ratio: 3:1
• EMR Documentation: Cerner
• Dress Code: Navy Blue or surgical scrubs
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,820 - $1,870

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU, recovery room, or critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Strong IV insertion, patient assessment, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to float between Preop, Phase 2, and PACU units as needed
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit
• Monitor and assess patient recovery following anesthesia and surgical procedures
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform required nursing procedures
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care in Cerner EMR system
• Participate in scheduled weekend call rotation
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and patient-centered healthcare environment
