PACU RN Job Details

• Location: Asheville, NC (28801) – North Carolina healthcare jobs
• Facility: Mission Hospital, K Tower
• Unit: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) – 40 beds
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (9:00 AM – 9:30 PM), 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Scrub Colors: Surgical green or navy
• EMR: Cerner documentation system

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse) – North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU or critical care nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale experience
• Trauma and pediatric nursing experience preferred
• Advanced skills in ventilator monitoring and post-anesthesia care
• Ability to float to peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II)

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia care to diverse patient populations
• Monitor and manage ventilators and PACU equipment
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including HUCs and PCTs
• Draw labs, perform catheterizations, and safely transport patients
• Document all patient care activities in Cerner EMR
• Participate in a 6-week scheduling cycle, including 3 required call shifts
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and unit guidelines
