Solar Electrical Foreman (Field-Based)
IMPORTANT: THIS IS A TRAVELING FIELD LEADERSHIP ROLE
Our solar projects are located across the United States and require extended stays and travel between sites.
Position Overview
The Solar Electrical Foreman is a front-line leader responsible for supervising crews performing DC electrical and wire harness replacement work under ground-mounted solar arrays. This role blends hands-on electrical expertise with strong leadership, planning, and safety oversight. Foremen ensure that crews meet daily production targets while upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance.
This position requires long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions, frequent walking, and night shift assignments when project schedules demand. Per diem is available for qualifying travel assignments.
Core Responsibilities
- Crew Leadership: Direct and supervise crews performing DC wiring and wire harness replacement beneath solar arrays. Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Safety Oversight: Enforce all company and site-specific safety procedures (LOTO, PPE, energized-work protocols). Conduct daily tailgate meetings and ensure immediate correction of unsafe conditions.
- Work Planning: Coordinate daily work plans, manage manpower needs, and track completion against production schedules.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work for proper installation, workmanship, and adherence to NEC standards and site requirements. Document findings and maintain accurate reports.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide on-the-job training to technicians and laborers to develop skills in electrical work, tooling, and safe practices.
- Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between field crews, site management, and project leadership. Provide timely updates on progress, obstacles, and resource needs.
- Tool & Material Management: Oversee the proper use, storage, and maintenance of tools, test equipment, and consumables. Coordinate material needs with project leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
EducationHigh-school diploma or GED required; technical or electrical training preferred.Experience2+ years of solar or electrical construction experience, including at least 1 year in a lead, foreman, or supervisory role.LicensingValid U.S. drivers license; ability to pass MVR check. Electrical license or apprenticeship completion a plus.Technical SkillsProficiency in DC wiring, crimping, torque tools, and multimeters; working knowledge of NEC standards for PV installations.Leadership SkillsAbility to lead, motivate, and manage crews in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.Work HoursFlexibility to work 1012-hour shifts, weekends, and night shifts as required.PPEMust provide your own composite- or steel-toe boots; all other PPE supplied by Sentry Electrical Group.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Walk 215 miles per day across uneven terrain.
- Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Bend, kneel, and crawl under low-clearance solar tables.
- Tolerate sun, wind, rain, dust, and temperature extremes (sub-freezing to 110F).
- Communicate effectively via radio in a noisy construction environment.
