Software Engineer III - Mainframe

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking - Card Account Management team, you will be a key member of an agile team, tasked with designing and delivering innovative, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. Your role involves implementing essential technology solutions across diverse technical domains, supporting various business functions to achieve the firm's strategic goals. **Job Responsibilities** + Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems + Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems + Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development + Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems + Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture + Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies + Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect **Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills** + Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience + Experience in developing and maintaining applications using COBOL, DB2, CICS,IMS DC/DB ensuring robust and efficient mainframe solutions, and follow the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure structured and efficient software development processes. + Develop and manage CICS (Customer Information Control System) applications for transaction processing in mainframe environments . + Knowledge on IMS (Information Management System) for hierarchical database management and transaction processing in mainframe environments. + Design and optimize databases using DB2, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability. + Deep knowledge on Schedule and monitor batch jobs using CA7, ensuring timely and efficient execution of critical business processes + Hands on with VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) for efficient data storage and retrieval in mainframe environments. + Experience with Change Man/Endeavor for version control and change management, supporting efficient deployment . + Utilize REXX for scripting and automation, enhancing productivity and efficiency in mainframe operations. + Implement ZOS Connect API for integrating mainframe applications with modern web and mobile applications. + Manage source code and version control using GIT, facilitating collaborative development and code management.
