Senior Caregiver in Conover, NC

Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in Conover, NC, in finding a senior caregiver for a senior family member. The senior caregiver would typically be needed 5 days a week, with days varying from Monday - Sunday, for 40 hours per week. Days and times are flexible, dependent on the family’s weekly needs.

The caregiver would need to travel locally with the family once a week. There will also occasionally be a need for the senior caregiver to travel with the family to Florida and the mountains. All hours worked and travel expenses will be paid for when traveling with the family.

The best Senior Caregiver will be compassionate, patient, discreet, and trustworthy. It is essential that the caregiver provides attentive and respectful care to a senior family member in a private residence. The individual receiving care experiences some difficulty with balance, walking, mobility, swallowing, eyesight, and occasional incontinence.

Each day, the caregiver will assist an elderly gentleman who needs to be woken around 9:30 AM and supported with showering and dressing for the day. He uses both a walker and a wheelchair, and the family is in the process of acquiring a motorized wheelchair and a wheelchair-accessible van. The caregiver must be able to safely transfer him in and out of the van and drive it as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting with clothing selection, providing dressing assistance, and ensuring his safety and stability, particularly given his increased risk of falls. The ideal candidate will be easygoing, have prior experience working with elderly individuals, and bring a calm, caring presence to the home. The family also employs a House Manager who oversees household operations. Senior Care Responsibilities Include:

• Provide companionship and engage in conversation or activities

• Monitor and support the seniors' daily routines and overall well-being

• Assist with mobility around the home

• Light meal preparation (lunch or simple meals) as needed and tidying up after meals.

• Medication reminders and daily check-ins

• Ensure a safe and clean environment

• Communicate regularly with the family regarding any changes in health or behavior

Pets: The family has one cat, for which no pet care is required.

Qualifications:

• Have at least 3 years of professional Senior Care experience.

• LPN or CNA preferred

• Have a professional resume

• Pass a credit check

• Have a valid driver’s license

• Have safe and reliable transportation

• Have a minimum of three professional references
