Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Location: Hickory, NC (zip 28601) – North Carolina healthcare jobs
• Facility: Adult Behavioral Health Hospital (81 beds)
• Position Type: Travel RN Contract
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1410 - $1450
• Orientation: Twice monthly

Psychiatric Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of acute inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
• Current AHA BLS certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or HWC certification required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
• Ability to float to various behavioral health units as needed
• Must reside at least 60 miles from facility to qualify for travel nursing status

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adults in acute psychiatric crisis stabilization
• Manage patient ratios from 1:10 to 2:23, ensuring safe and effective clinical support
• Administer medications and monitor withdrawal/detox protocols (ET DH & Benzo withdrawal)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for patient treatment planning
• Document patient care using CENRNER EHR system
• Utilize Omnicell equipment for medication management
• Maintain professional nursing standards and adhere to facility dress code (scrub color: any; denim and camo not permitted)
