MH Kids Associate Director - Ridge Campus

In Mercy Hill Kids we equip parents and develop leaders to engage kids with the gospel. The Associate Director is accountable and responsible for overseeing the outworking of the Mercy Hill Kids Ministry at The Ridge campus. This is accomplished by ensuring the effectiveness of leadership investment and development, managing excellent kids experiences, partnering with parents to engage kids with the gospel, and leading The Ridge Campus Kids Staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop & Invest in Volunteer Leaders:

1. Develop team members through the Leadership Pipeline

  • Lead in recruiting Team Leaders and Coordinators
  • Equip the Kids Coordinator to oversee the Team Leader Application process and manage respective workflows
  • View the upcoming needs of the ministry, and recruit/train leaders accordingly
  • Check in with Team Leader Apprentices as scheduled through the pipeline

2. Lead and manage Volunteer Leadership Team

  • Regularly check-in with Team Coordinators Team Leaders
  • Provide coaching, encouragement, and development of leaders

3. Oversee Team Member Recruitment and On-Ramp

  • Lead in recruiting to the Kids Team
  • Empower Ridge Kids Staff and volunteers to shoulder tap new people
  • Facilitate and lead the On-Ramp session following the Weekender

4. Develop Team Culture

  • Lead or equip others to lead team huddle each week
  • Oversee Coordinators facilitating their team communication
  • Affirm, teach, and correct Volunteer Culture Values (Unreasonably Hospitality, Servant Leadership, Eyes for Excellence, Spirit of Family)

Manage Excellent Kids Experiences:

1. Kids Team Member Oversight

  • Ensure the safety of the Kids Space and oversee the implementation of MH Kids policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Campus Kids Staff, leaders, and volunteers to communicate information and address any specific classroom needs/concerns.

2. Service Details

  • Oversee standard of excellency expected in worship and programming as outlined in the MH Kids Standard Operating Procedures for weekend services.
  • Uphold standards for MH Kids as it relates to all first-time guests, large group worship experience, and curriculum implementation.
  • Ensure completion of metrics: kids classroom headcounts, unique headcounts, and first time guests. Input this data into necessary forms each weekend.
  • Brainstorm ways to improve MH Kids and Programming.

Equip & Engage Parents:

1. Baptism Counseling:

  • Conduct baptism counseling for children who express a desire to be baptized.
  • Follow up with families through the Baptism workflows (ready or deferred).
  • Build and train a baptism counseling team using MH Kids training material, oversee team on big baptism weekends (Easter, Kids Week, Christmas, etc.).

2. Family Relations and Communication:

  • Invest in and connect to families at Mercy Hill weekly during drop off and pick up.
  • Send periodic campus emails and personal check ins.
  • Keep families informed of upcoming campus and church wide events and happenings.
  • Assist in addressing issues in families through counseling and/or resourcing (alongside the Campus Pastor and Kids Director).

3. Family Recruitment:

  • Encourage families not connected to a serve team to attend Weekender and/or Attend 1 Serve 1 Sunday.
  • Brainstorm and implement ways to recruit families to serving and/or connect them to community groups.
  • Lead team in recruitment and shoulder tapping.

Lead & Manage Ridge Kids Staff:

  • Regularly meet with Campus Kids Staff for coaching, developing, brainstorming, follow up, and ministry planning.
  • Align Ridge Kids Staff with Ministry values and standards of excellence through the MH Kids Standard Operating Procedures and MH Kids Worship Experience SOP.
  • Oversee MH Kids Coordinator in scheduling for services, ensuring ratios are met
  • Oversee MH Kids Coordinator completing ministry workflows including Team member onboarding/offboarding, Team Leadership Pipeline, Baptisms, First Time Guests, and Events
  • Oversee the MH Kids Coordinator in the setup of the weekend services

Central Responsibilities:

1. MH Kids Development:

  • Identify and plan quarterly rocks and clear plans of execution.
  • Contribute to the development of various Kids ministry elements (i.e. Worship development, Kids events, Volunteer care, Team Culture, etc.).

2. Events:

  • Assist in planning and execution of various all-church related Kids activities (i.e. Kids Week, Weekender, Family Worship Nights, etc.).
  • Be responsible for all campus-related Kids events(i.e. Parent Commissioning).
  • Serve at Executive approved events requiring Childcare.

Miscellaneous:

  • Provide assistance with miscellaneous duties during the gathering, including next steps, baptisms, communion, etc.
  • Host a table or serve at Weekender and/or Vision Summit events, church conferences, etc.
  • Assist in various ways with large-scale events like Kids Week, Fall Launch, Easter, etc.
