Core Responsibilities

• Strategic Project Stewardship: Architect the execution of complex projects, overseeing scopes, schedules, and multi-million dollar budgets to ensure the highest standards of delivery and fiscal performance.

• Design Excellence & Innovation: Lead the creative process for diverse project types, applying advanced sustainable design principles to parks, streetscapes, and master-planned developments.

• Multidisciplinary Integration: Collaborate seamlessly with internal civil and structural engineering teams to ensure site designs are technically sound, regulatory compliant, and aesthetically superior.

• Client Advocacy: Build and sustain high-trust relationships with key stakeholders, acting as the firm’s primary representative in presentations, interviews, and community engagements.

• Practice Leadership: Continuously refine design workflows, tools, and project delivery standards to maintain the firm’s competitive edge in the regional market.

• Team Mentorship: Guide the professional trajectory of junior landscape architects, fostering a culture of high performance, clear communication, and design rigor.

• Business Growth: Support business development initiatives by spearheading winning proposals, fee negotiations, and networking within the North Carolina AEC community.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.

• Licensure: Active Professional Licensure or Registration (RLA/PLA).

• Experience: 8–10+ years of progressive experience in landscape architecture design and project management.

• Technical Proficiency: Expert command of site planning, entitlement processes, and the development of comprehensive construction documentation.

• Financial Acumen: Proven capability in managing project budgets, cost estimates, and resource allocation.

• Communication: Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex design concepts to clients and regulatory agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Regional Expertise: Deep familiarity with local permitting, zoning, and approval processes specific to Durham and the broader North Carolina region.

• Multidisciplinary Background: Previous experience working within a "one-stop-shop" or multidisciplinary engineering and design firm.

• Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated success in developing junior talent and leading cross-functional design teams.
