Smalltalk Developer

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Smalltalk Developer.

Position type: Full Time – Contract

Duration: 19 Months

Location: Wilmington DE, Charlotte NC, Iselin NJ, Phoenix AZ, Irving TX (3 days onsite/2-days work from home)

As a Smalltalk Developer , you will

• Support existing Smalltalk-based applications while actively rewriting and migrating services to modern Java backends.
• Package and deploy Smalltalk applications across various non-production environments.
• Participate as a senior team member in active Scrum ceremonies, taking ownership of complex technical stories.
• Apply strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles to bridge the gap between legacy logic and modern full-stack architecture.

The ideal candidate will have

• 5+ years of Smalltalk development experience.
• Strong foundational understanding of OOP techniques and clean design principles.
• Should be able to package and deploy the applications build with Smalltalk in non-production environments.
• Solid experience with Java backend development and enterprise frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) or related relational databases.
• Familiarity with React or modern front-end UI frameworks.
• Prior experience working on legacy-to-modern application migrations, ideally within fintech, banking, or credit card servicing.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS

Pay Range*: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour

• Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
