Aluminum GTAW/GMAW Fabrication Welder
Your day, welded together
You start the shift by reviewing blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols for the day’s builds. After selecting the right procedures, you set up both manual and automated welding units, stage parts, and align/clamp assemblies in jigs and fixtures. From there, you’ll perform GTAW (TIG) and, as needed, GMAW (MIG) on aluminum components in every position—flat, vertical, even overhead—maintaining smooth, consistent beads and proper penetration.
Between passes, you’ll prep joints with grinders and hand tools, clean workpieces, and keep distortion in check. You’ll inspect your welds to spec, rework when necessary, and log results so quality stays tight. Throughout the day, you keep your booth organized, follow safety procedures, wear the right PPE, and lend a hand across fabrication and assembly when teammates need it. By shift end, you’ve met productivity goals, upheld quality and safety standards, and moved one step closer to completing your welding qualification tests within the required timeframe.
