Position Title: Heavy Civil Construction Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater
Position Summary
Lean Synergy Solutions is seeking a Heavy Civil Construction Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater to support active water and wastewater treatment plant, pump station, utility infrastructure, and related heavy civil construction projects in the Dunn, NC area. This role is designed for a detail-oriented project professional with experience supporting field operations, project documentation, submittals, RFIs, subcontractor coordination, and construction administration. The ideal candidate understands both field execution and office coordination, can work closely with project managers and superintendents, and is comfortable supporting complex water/wastewater construction or rehabilitation projects from planning through closeout.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide field office and project coordination support to project managers, superintendents, foremen, owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
- Prepare, review, track, and distribute submittals, RFIs, pre-construction documents, project correspondence, and supporting construction documentation.
- Maintain project files, tracking logs, deliverable records, action-item lists, meeting notes, and other hard-copy and electronic project documentation.
- Coordinate and attend progress meetings, construction meetings, and pre-construction meetings, including preparing agendas, notices, notes, and follow-up items.
- Support O&M manual coordination, spare parts tracking, training documentation, testing records, closeout documentation, and other project deliverables.
- Review design documents, contract drawings, specifications, and project requirements to help monitor compliance and support successful field execution.
- Work closely with field leadership to understand daily operations, identify project needs, communicate priorities, and help keep work moving safely and efficiently.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates should have 3-5 years of relevant project engineering, construction administration, field coordination, or heavy civil construction support experience.
- Experience supporting water/wastewater facilities, treatment plants, tanks, pump stations, utility infrastructure, or related heavy civil construction projects is required.
- Experience in water/wastewater facilities administration or construction administration is required.
- Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, meeting notes, project documentation, and stakeholder updates.
- Strong planning, organization, follow-through, and attention to detail are required, along with the ability to manage multiple logs, deliverables, and action items at once.
- High school diploma or GED is required, and candidates must be physically able to perform field-related work and visit active construction sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a general contractor involved in self-performing and subcontracting construction or rehabilitation of existing water/wastewater treatment plants is preferred.
- Background in planning, design, permitting, utility design, construction administration, municipal client support, or consulting engineering environments is a plus.
- A two-year or four-year degree, technical school training, or coursework in civil engineering, construction management, water/wastewater management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with pipe, treatment plant, tank, pump station, and infrastructure improvement projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with municipal clients, owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams is valued.
Location
Dunn, NC area. This role may involve travel to active project sites as needed.
