Director of Youth Homelessness Prevention
The Meggs Foundation is seeking a strategic, compassionate, and results-driven Director of Youth Homelessness Prevention to lead and expand initiatives focused on preventing and reducing youth homelessness. This leadership role will oversee program development, cross-sector partnerships, community engagement, advocacy efforts, and data-driven strategies that support vulnerable youth and young adults in achieving long-term housing stability and well-being.
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with experience in homelessness prevention, youth development, behavioral health, social services, or nonprofit leadership, and a strong commitment to equity, trauma-informed care, and systems change.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive youth homelessness prevention strategy aligned with The Meggs Foundation’s mission and goals.
- Lead organizational efforts focused on early intervention, housing stability, family reunification, education access, workforce readiness, and supportive services.
- Identify emerging trends, funding opportunities, and best practices in youth homelessness prevention.
Program Development & Management
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of youth-centered programs and initiatives.
- Ensure programs are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and outcomes-focused.
- Monitor program performance metrics and prepare reports for leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
- Manage departmental budgets, contracts, and resource allocation.
Partnership & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, shelters, healthcare providers, government agencies, juvenile justice systems, workforce organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Represent The Meggs Foundation at community meetings, coalitions, conferences, and public events.
- Advocate for policies and systems that improve outcomes for at-risk and unhoused youth.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program staff and consultants.
- Foster a collaborative and mission-driven team culture.
- Support staff development through training, coaching, and professional growth opportunities.
Fundraising & Grant Management
- Collaborate with development staff on grant proposals, donor engagement, and funding strategies.
- Assist in securing public and private funding to expand youth homelessness prevention initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting obligations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of leadership experience in homelessness services, youth development, nonprofit management, or related social impact sectors.
- Strong knowledge of youth homelessness systems, housing programs, trauma-informed practices, and community resources.
- Proven experience managing programs, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and drive measurable outcomes.
- Passion for social justice, equity, and improving the lives of vulnerable youth.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with federal, state, or local grants.
- Knowledge of HUD, Continuum of Care (CoC), and youth housing policies.
- Experience with collective impact initiatives and cross-sector collaboration.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
