We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Asheville, North Carolina. You will play a key part in managing vendor accounts, processing payments, and ensuring accurate financial records. Responsibilities:
• Accurately process invoices and ensure proper account coding.
• Manage payment runs, including ACH transactions and check distributions.
• Handle vendor management tasks, such as maintaining account details and responding to inquiries.
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
• Monitor and resolve discrepancies in invoices or payments.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely processing of financial documents.
• Review and verify invoices for compliance with organizational policies.
• Prepare and maintain reports related to accounts payable activities.
• Ensure adherence to deadlines for payments and reporting.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
Skills & Competencies:
- 2–5 years of accounting or finance support experience, ideally within a nonprofit or grantmaking environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with accounts payable operations.
- Practical involvement in audit preparation or year-end close processes.
- Expertise with financial systems such as Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, sorting, basic formulas).
- Familiarity with document management tools like SharePoint or Teams for workflow tracking.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage high transactional volumes.
