AWS CWI Railcar Welding Quality Inspector
AWS CWI Railcar Welding Quality Inspector
Help shape the future of passenger rail in the U.S. from our Lexington, NC manufacturing campus. Siemens Mobility’s Rolling Stock team builds state-of-the-art passenger coaches, locomotives, and light rail vehicles—and your expertise in welding quality will keep them safe, reliable, and on time.
A day in this role
On a typical evening, you’ll walk the Carshell welding lines and BG manufacturing areas, moving from workstation to workstation to verify that every weld and machined feature meets strict rail standards. You’ll reference drawings and specs, confirm configuration revisions, and document your findings as you go. When a new part or assembly is introduced, you’ll perform first article inspections and compile diagnostic summaries. Throughout the shift, you’ll run visual CWI checks alongside dimensional and mechanical inspections, and you’ll bring in one or more NDT methods to validate integrity. Before the night is over, you’ll update the MRP system, log nonconformances, and capture configuration data so the next team starts with clear information.
Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 p.m.–2:30 a.m. (includes shift differential)
