Tekberry is looking for a Controls Engineer III to work on-site with our client, a leading global manufacturing company. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and supporting PLC and HMI systems used in fiber optic cable production. This includes the creation of new control programs, management of project scopes, and mentorship of junior engineers. The role will support both capital and process improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:

• Create and modify Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC programs (v20 or higher).
• Design, implement, and support automation and control systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Develop and interpret electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical 2023.
• Interface with and manage external integrators during equipment development.
• Support HMI/SCADA systems programming in plant environments.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians.
• Ensure adherence to NEC, NFPA, Lock-Out Tag-Out, and all applicable safety standards.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and resolution of electrical and control systems issues.
• Participate in all phases of project development, including installation and start-up.
• Execute projects independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (BSEE, BSCS, BSME, or BSMET preferred).
• 4+ years of experience working with PLCs, HMIs, and process automation.
• Advanced experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix programming.
• Strong ability to read/create electrical drawings and control panel schematics.
• Familiarity with VFD and Servo motor controls, communication protocols, and industrial safety.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical 2023.
• Excellent troubleshooting and project execution skills.
• Working knowledge of structured text, ladder logic, and function block diagram programming.
• Experience implementing robust safety controls and designs.

Preferred:

• Experience with extrusion or cable winding processes.
• Familiarity with iFix 5.9+, Beckhoff PLCs, and legacy automation platforms.
• Knowledge of OSI PI Historian, PI Vision, or PI Asset Framework.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with vision for scalable system design.
