Truck Driver

POSITION: TRUCK DRIVER

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of the Truck Driver as determined by SunEnergy1 standards are to include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for transporting cargo from one place to another using tractor-trailer trucks or other company owned vehicles as needed
• Operate trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight
• Deliver cargo while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes, intrastate
• Load and unload cargo
• Keep truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order
• Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
• Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking; get cargo to site on time, safely
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs
• Follow all applicable traffic laws
• Perform pre-trip inspections and record any defects found
• Keep a daily log of activities
• Record amount and type of cargo being delivered
• Transport hazardous materials

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid CDL Class-A license required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements preferred
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations
• Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
• No recent moving or driving violations
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to relate to people
• Must have the ability to work individually or as a team
• Must be self-motivated
• Must be well organized and detail oriented
