Director of Operations-Concrete Construction
About the Company
Our client is a nationally recognized concrete contractor with a strong presence in the Southeast and a growing footprint in the Carolinas. The company has a strong track record of success in high-profile and technically demanding concrete structures.
About the Position
The company is seeking a Director of Operations to lead operations in Charlotte. This is not a traditional operations manager role—it’s a head coach position for someone who has lived in the details of complex concrete projects and now knows how to lead multiple teams to success.
This is an opportunity to own both the strategic and tactical performance of 4+ major projects at once—ranging from $8M+ and 4 stories up to 30+ story towers. You’ll manage project teams, shape preconstruction and business development targeting, ensure high standards in execution, and drive accountability through data and process. You’ll need to pivot when required, support your team through challenges, and communicate with clarity and urgency.
If you have a track record of leading large commercial concrete projects and are known for having "command presence" in high-stakes environments—this is your stage.
Key Responsibilities
Lead operational oversight of 3–6 large-scale concrete projects simultaneously.
Provide coaching and structure to PMs and Superintendents—ensure they know what they’re focused on and how to execute.
Guide preconstruction and BD teams to chase and win the right work.
Review and act on project data—use KPIs, schedule, budget, and safety metrics to identify opportunities and drive accountability.
Own manpower planning and team resource alignment across projects.
Make go/no-go decisions in precon, provide execution feedback early and often.
Partner with leadership to continually refine operational strategy.
Maintain client relationships across the lifecycle of major projects.
Requirements
Minimum 10+ years of construction project management experience, preferably rising through the ranks as a Project Manager.
Demonstrated success on complex concrete projects $8M+ and/or structures over 4 stories.

Confident communicator who commands respect on job sites and in the boardroom.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar is preferred.
