Senior Software Developer in Test (SDET)

Position Summary:
As a Senior SDET, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. You will work closely with development teams to design, develop, and execute test strategies, automation frameworks, and test cases to validate the functionality, performance, and security of our applications.
Responsibilities:
- Test Strategy and Planning: Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans, including test cases, test data, and test environments.
- Test Automation: Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using industry-standard tools.
- Test Execution: Execute manual and automated tests, analyze test results, and report defects.
- Performance Testing: Conduct performance testing to ensure that applications meet scalability and performance requirements.
- Security Testing: Perform security testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure that quality is built into the product from the beginning.
- Requirement Analysis: Analyze functional and non-functional requirements to ensure testing coverage and identify any gaps early in the development lifecycle.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on both testing and automation best practices.
- Practical Software Use Cases: Collaborate with our professional services and product teams to become an expert on specific Prometheus Group product(s) are used by our customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
- Demonstrated expertise in architecting, supporting, and enhancing tools and frameworks within continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) environments, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Experience leading junior QA members in test case definition and automation as well as overall test strategy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of test and dev infrastructure, pipelines, and the ability to innovate within these domains.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product management, and professional service teams
- A results-driven approach, guided by data and comfortable tackling ambiguous or undefined challenges. You should be a builder, someone who is energized by practical problem solving (i.e. you’re not looking for the perfect solution, but are instead coming up with a timely solution to a customer-impacting problem)
- Experience with automated testing frameworks like Selenium, Appium, or TestComplete.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and experience working in a SCRUM environment.
- Experience with both performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, LoadView) and API testing tools (Grafana, K6)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with cloud-based testing environments, particularly AWS.
- Knowledge of security testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience with or a keen interest in scaling automation within a CI/CD pipeline.
- Certifications in testing or software development are a plus
