Human Resources Generalist
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in a manufacturing environment in Tarboro, NC. This HR Generalist role is ideal for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys being highly visible, supporting employees directly, and partnering with managers in a fast-paced plant setting. This is the sole onsite HR role, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across employee relations, leave administration, investigations, timekeeping support, and day-to-day HR operations. The right candidate will be approachable, service-focused, confident, and able to balance employee support with business needs. This role offers exposure to a unionized manufacturing environment, supportive leadership resources, and the potential to grow into a long-term position. Key Responsibilities - Serve as the primary onsite HR contact for employees and managers in a manufacturing plant environment.- Provide HR guidance related to ADA, FMLA, leave of absence administration, employee relations, and workplace policy matters.
- Conduct workplace investigations, collect statements, document findings, and escalate matters appropriately.
- Partner with managers to support accountability, communication, performance expectations, and employee issue resolution.
- Maintain a visible HR presence on the plant floor with an open-door, customer-service-focused approach.
- Manage multiple competing HR priorities while ensuring timely follow-up and appropriate prioritization. Compensation and Benefits - Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-hire opportunity.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Work Arrangement: 100% onsite.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Serve as the sole onsite HR Generalist supporting employees, managers, and plant operations.- Manage ADA, FMLA, leave of absence, investigations, employee relations, and HR compliance-related matters.
- Support managers by providing direction, reinforcing accountability, and helping resolve workplace concerns.
- Maintain strong visibility on the plant floor while providing responsive HR customer service. - 3 to 5 years of human resources experience preferred.
- Strong HR subject matter expertise, including ADA, FMLA, LOA administration, investigations, and employee relations.
- Experience conducting investigations, collecting statements, documenting concerns, and escalating issues properly.
- UKG timekeeping experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to remain approachable, professional, and responsive.
- Ability to confidently say no when needed and push managers to fulfill their responsibilities.
- Strong prioritization skills with the ability to manage competing needs without becoming overwhelmed.
- Comfortable working in a 100% onsite role with high visibility in a plant floor environment.
- Able to take direction, give direction, and communicate clearly with employees and leadership. Preferred Qualifications - Union environment exposure is preferred but not required.
- Manufacturing, HVAC, or similar industrial environment experience is helpful.
- Prior experience as the primary or sole onsite HR resource is a plus.
