Job Overview

This opening is for an Assembly Operator V, using advanced skills to work directly with fiber optics. This person will be a key member of our team and will be responsible for optical connector and cable assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, test station set up for various cable assemblies, advanced testing of cable assemblies, and will assist training new and existing employees. This individual will assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in the process of bringing new optical products from concept to market. The position is expected to provide continuous improvement suggestions for the simplification of new products to reduce costs and increase overall manufacturing efficiency. The individual is to be a self-starter and have the ability to work well under schedule pressures and be able to balance workload as priorities change. Candidates need to have a strong work ethic with a desire to continually learn & with a concentrated focus on serving the Customer. The ideal candidate works well in teams, has the desire to learn, possesses strong hand-eye coordination, and maintains the attention to detail needed to make quality products for our customers. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area, following safety guidelines and all TE Connectivity's policies and procedures

Shifts Available:

1st, Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm

2nd, Mon-Fri, 2nd: 3pm-11:30pm (10% Shift Differential)

Weekend, Fri-Sun 7AM-7:30PM (22% Shift Differential)

Job Requirements

  • • Polish and test fiber optic cables
    • Assemble and package fiber optic connector components
    • Operate fiber router & complete over-molding process (as needed)
    • Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds (as needed)
    • Measure components using calipers, gages, or other measuring devices
    • Complete necessary operational paperwork required to maintain the traceability of product
    • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to equipment
    • Understand and demonstrate cleaning methods and contamination assessment for optical assembly.
    • Termination of various standard fiber optic termini as well new termini designs
    • Perform IL & RL testing of various configurations of cable assemblies
    • Perform EFG & IPC (workmanship) checks on both single & multi-fiber termini
    • Safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop), identify and resolve issues
    • Assist in the estimations of process step time durations
    • Assist in setting-up new manufacturing processes
    • Identify process changes to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies
    • Communicate within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction
    • Facilitate and exceedingly Proficient in providing high quality, accurate products, in a timely manner according to skills matrix
    • Use of Fiber Optic & Electronic Test Equipment: Optical Power Meters, IL/RL Test, Oscilloscope, DMM (Digital Multi Meter), Variable Power Supplies, Variable Attenuators, Optical & RF Switch
    • Train new and existing team members on products, process, and procedures.
    • Ability to perform advanced assembly process for numerous fiber optic products
    • Derive measurements from drawings
    • Inspect own work and products using quality standards, work instructions and prints.
    • Accountability - takes responsibility for his/her own work. Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others.
    • Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed
    • Ability to work in a clean room environment wearing all required clean room gowning garments and PPE (gowns, shoe booties, hair nets, nitrile gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes)

What your background should look like

• High School diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience required
• Minimum 2 years experience in a fiber optic manufacturing environment preferred
• Must have good time management skills to work on numerous projects simultaneously
• Attention to Detail (following bill of material, Routers, and understanding drawings/prints)
• Proficient Dexterity & Motor Skills for intricate/delicate work
• Experience using electronic testing equipment such as Oscilloscope, DMM (Digital Multi Meter), Variable Power Supplies required
• SAP Manufacturing & ISO 9001 experience is preferred
• Excel skills to record, organize, & analyze data
• Some post high school technical courses preferred
• Familiarity of AutoCAD or similar program
• Must be able to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to remain in stationary position 75% of the time
• Must be able to operate machinery
• Must be able to move between work zones
• Must be proficient and able to understand written instructions in English language

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $26.68/HR (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
