Technical Consultant - System Engineering focus

Esri
Charlotte, NC
Overview

Join Esri’s Professional Services team as a Technical Consultant focused on system engineering for ArcGIS Enterprise . In this role, you will work directly with customers to design, deploy, migrate, and support enterprise‑scale GIS systems, with an emphasis on advanced deployment strategies such as high availability, disaster recovery, and Kubernetes‑based architectures.

Working alongside a team specializing in ArcGIS Enterprise, you will help customers navigate complex enterprise IT environments by applying proven system engineering practices across Windows, Linux, cloud, and containerized deployments. Esri’s ArcGIS platform provides powerful tools for mapping and spatial analysis, enabling organizations to better understand where things happen and how data, systems, and decisions are connected. Esri’s Professional Services Division plays a critical role in advancing the ArcGIS enterprise mapping and analytics platform by helping users succeed, expanding the influence of GIS, and continuously improving our technology.

  • Apply working knowledge of technologies that complement ArcGIS Enterprise, including relational databases (RDBMS), NoSQL stores, object storage systems, SAN, NAS, and related enterprise data tier components.
  • Apply understanding of server‑side servicing stack models, enterprise authentication methods (native credentials, domain‑based authentication, SAML/OIDC, and related protocols), and foundational networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and TLS.
  • Lead customers and colleagues using well‑defined, repeatable system engineering methods that create shared understanding and successful outcomes at the intersection of ArcGIS Enterprise and enterprise IT systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Professional Services staff to resolve complex technical challenges and support the technical growth and skill development of less‑experienced colleagues.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional experience implementing and supporting enterprise GIS systems
  • Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting technical issues in server‑based systems
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently apply a systematic, best‑practice‑driven approach to system engineering
