BLD Services, LLC  is seeking a skilled and motivated  Field Engineer  with project management experience to join our Project Management team in the  Mid-Atlantic Region ! If you have proven experience in the water/sewer or municipal construction industry, we would like to speak with you. The ideal candidate should live within 2-3 Hours of Greenville, Charlotte, Columbia. Preferably near the Charlotte, NC Area.

 

In this role, you will play a key part in leading critical infrastructure and rehabilitation projects from initial planning through final completion, ensuring that each effort is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with both client expectations and organizational goals. The position requires a strong background in project management practices, the ability to oversee and coordinate subcontractors and field crews, careful tracking of quantities and costs, and the confidence to bring together multi-functional teams to achieve successful outcomes on complex projects.

 

The starting salary is $60,000-$80,000 per year depending on experience. Potential bonus opportunities based upon performance.

What You'll Do

  • Review project plans, specifications, and permitting requirements in detail to ensure that all work aligns with engineering standards as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide ongoing field oversight for production, safety, quality, and project management standards, making sure that each project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company expectations.
  • Manage subcontractors and field crews by handling contracts, coordinating schedules, and monitoring performance to ensure work is completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Track project costs, schedules, and production goals closely to ensure that timelines are met, budgets are maintained, and profitability targets are achieved.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain all necessary project documentation—including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports—to keep information accurate and up to date.
  • Represent the company at pre-bid, pre-construction, and project status meetings, maintaining strong communication with clients and partners throughout the life of each project.
  • Identify potential risks or challenges, proactively adjust project plans when needed, and lead team meetings to align partners, resolve issues, and keep work moving forward.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed at every stage of the project, fostering a culture of accountability and compliance on all job sites.

 

What We Need

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Preferably Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 1+ years of project management experience, or 1+ years of construction field experience managing $1MM+ annually.
  • Proven ability to manage numerous projects at once with strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting/finance principles (preferred).
  • Prior experience in water/sewer or municipal construction (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF editing tools.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
