Chief Executive Officer - Children's Advocacy Center of DE
Reporting to an engaged and professional Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will have the overall strategic and operational responsibility for leading a strong, professional staff in realizing the CAC’s mission to reduce the devastating long-term effects that child abuse has on children, their families and society through immediate and coordinated child-focused services, education, and advocacy . The CEO works with the staff, board of directors, multiple partners, diverse supporters and communities across Delaware to ensure all children are not further traumatized or victimized by the systems designed to protect them. ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
- Perform the overall administrative tasks necessary for the effective operation of the Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware, Inc.
- Administer and ensure the necessary financial, human resources, and other management and administrative policies and procedures for the organization.
- Recruit, retain, and develop a highly qualified staff and administer an effective personnel program that includes supporting employees and assessing performance.
- Establish office procedures, coordinate workflow, and be familiar with internal filing and reporting systems.
- Monitor management statistics and reports.
- Administer and periodically review CAC operational policies and procedures.
- Initiate and work with the CAC Board and Officers on Board recruitment, orientation education, and on developing programs, guidelines, and policies.
- Keep the CAC Board informed of relevant developments in the child abuse investigation field and other topics directly impacting the CAC.
- Assist the Board Chairperson with the preparation of meeting agendas.
- Consult with designated Board members in their areas of expertise as it relates to issues and operations of the CAC.
- Keep the CAC Board informed of CAC operations by providing periodic routine reports and special reports of extraordinary events.
- Prepare, with the review and approval of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and recommend to the CAC Board, an annual budget.
- Administer the budget including oversight of accounts payable and payroll.
- Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls over CAC bank accounts and other fiscal functions within the CAC.
- Pursue additional funding for services including federal, state, and local sources as well as foundation and corporate grants.
- Ensure annual financial audit is completed in a timely manner.
- Initiate and maintain monitoring/evaluation systems for both the programmatic and fiscal aspects of services funded by various sources.
- Prepare timely and necessary reports and statistics required by various funding sources.
- Monitor and revise as necessary operational, statistical, and case-related forms used by the organization.
- Maintain all necessary and appropriate CAC certifications, including but not limited to those issued by the National Children's Alliance (NCA) and the National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC).
- Assist the Board with preparation of comprehensive strategic plans and recommend program and service development based on funding potential and community needs.
- Establish organizational goals and objectives for the organization in consultation with the Board.
- Participate in national, state, and local organizations concerned with child abuse issues.
- Network with MDT partner agencies and community service providers to develop appropriate resources for clients referred by the CAC for medical, mental health and social services.
- Maintain appropriate relationships with all funding sources, including The Governor’s Office, and Delaware's General Assembly in order to maintain and grow CAC funding as required.
- In coordination with the CAC Board, promote, monitor, and evaluate media coverage of the CAC.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, social services, public administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training directly related to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in leading a nonprofit or social service organization.
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
- Proven success working with a board of directors
- Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
- Proven problem-solving and prioritization skills
- Extensive experience in budgeting and financial management, organizational development, social services programs, fundraising and personnel development and supervision.
- Thorough knowledge of working with community resources and federal and local funding sources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds .
