Lease Accountant
Job Title: Lease / Accounting Administrator
Location: Charlotte, NC
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 / Hourly (Direct Hire, hourly position)

Job Description:
The Lease / Accounting Administrator will play a key role in supporting lease administration and financial operations for a substantial portfolio of retail locations. This individual will work cross-functionally with internal departments and external landlords to ensure accurate rent processing, lease compliance, and timely reconciliation of accounts. The ideal candidate brings prior lease administration experience—preferably within retail—and a strong foundation in accounting principles.
This is a fully in-office role with the opportunity to work remotely one day per week after completing training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and reconcile monthly landlord billing statements against lease agreements and rent schedules
- Manage high-volume rent processing and audit rent rolls for accuracy
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, including historical reviews and year-end true-ups
- Analyze lease terms such as CAM charges, percentage rent, co-tenancy clauses, and other financial provisions
- Prepare and review gross sales reports and percentage rent calculations
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes with landlords in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate lease records within the lease management system
- Partner with internal teams to provide reporting updates and financial insights related to lease obligations
- Track and monitor lease-related documentation and critical dates
Qualifications:
- 1–2+ years of lease administration experience (retail or commercial preferred)
- Experience managing a high-volume lease portfolio (retail exposure strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of lease financial terms and account reconciliation processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet management
- Experience working within a lease management database (MRI experience a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to professionally handle landlord discussions
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
- Stable work history demonstrating long-term commitment
