About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with TalentBurst, Inc. to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 27101!

Facility Overview:

• 885-bed Level I Trauma & Academic Medical Center
• Teaching Hospital
• Certified Chest Pain & Stroke Center
• Free employee parking

Unit Details:

• 24-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit
• Patient population includes General Medicine cases such as:
  • Diabetes
  • GI disorders
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Renal patients
  • Wound care/dressing changes
  • Chest tubes
  • Trachs
  • Lab draws

Shift Details:

• 12-hour Night Shift (36 hours/week)
• Start Time: 6:30 PM
• Every Other Weekend (EOW)
• 75% holiday requirement
• No call or callback requirements

Requirements:

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with strong MST background
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required

Required Skills:

• Telemetry strip interpretation
• Chest tubes
• Trach care
• PIV starts
• Drain/tube management
• PCA pump management
• Experience with:
  • Amiodarone
  • Heparin
  • Fentanyl PCA
  • Ketamine PCA
  • Dilaudid PCA

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 5–6 patients
• CNA: 8 patients

Support Staff & Resources:

• CNAs
• Charge Nurse
• Receptionist/HUC
• Phlebotomy
• Rapid Response Team
• RT available 24/7
• Hospitalist & Intensivist coverage 24/7
• Centralized telemetry monitoring

Technology:

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Omnicell

Floating:

• Required to float to other MedSurg units as needed

Orientation:

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• 2 days of departmental orientation
