Pipefitter Top Helper/Mechanic

Atlantic Staffing is interviewing Pipefitters/Mechanics now for a well established client in the Raleigh, NC area. 

This is a temp-to-hire position with weekly pay!

Job Duties of a Pipefitter Top Helper/Mechanic:

• Cut or drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes using pneumatic or electric drills.

• Select specified types and sizes of pipe; mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.

• Assist pipefitters in installing valves, couplings, and other mechanically fastened or welded fittings.

• May disassemble and remove damaged or existing piping.

• Threading and grooving pipe.

• Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft workers with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.

• Clean the work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.

• May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of the journeyman's tools and equipment.

• May assist in installation of Pumps, HVAC Units, Fans, Air Compressors, Roof Top Units, Specialty Valves.

• May assist in installation of high-pressure piping.

• Exercise behavior that ensures personal safety and the safety of coworkers.

• Perform other routine duties as directed by an experienced craft person.

• Assist other tradesmen employed by client. Work may include but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, Duct Systems Installation, Electrical, Fire Sprinkler, General construction, Warehouse support, Building and Grounds maintenance, Cleanup and Clerical duties as required by supervisor.

Job Requirements of the Pipefitter Top Helper/Mechanic:

• 3-5 years experience in pipe fitting for welded pipe, brazed pipe, grooved pipe, hydronic hot water / chill water systems, installation of boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, VAV units, steam systems.

• Fire Sprinkler experience is a plus.

• Need to have your own hand tools. Basic knowledge of simple measuring devices.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Physical Demands of a Pipefitter Top Helper/Mechanic:

Must work efficiently and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing 50+ pounds consistently. Climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds and stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.

Pay and Work Schedule of the Pipefitter Top Helper/Mechanic:

• $20.00 – $28.00 per hour, depending on experience.

• Monday- Friday 5 PM-1:30 AM (Hours may adjust depending upon project)

• This is a temp-to-hire position with a company that has been in business for 100+ years in the Raleigh area.

• The schedule for this position will vary depending on client needs. Candidates should be available to work day or night shifts throughout the week.
