PA or NP, Orthopedics (Foot and Ankle)
WakeMed / Wake Orthopedics is seeking an experienced Orthopedic Physician Assistant or Nurse practitioner with a strong interest in an office-based Foot and Ankle position. The role focuses on the comprehensive care of pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients with foot and ankle conditions.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and managing all foot and ankle related injuries and diagnoses
- Providing care for acute injuries, fracture management and emergency department follow ups
- Performing wound care, casting, splinting and joint injection
- Conducting pre-operative planning and post-operative evaluations
- Collaborating closely with two fellowship trained Foot and Ankle Orthopedic surgeons
- Delivering high quality, patient- centered care in an outpatient setting
Training Support:
- Wake Orthopedics will provide a comprehensive three-month onboarding and training program alongside two Foot and Ankle surgeons to ensure confidence and success in the role.
General Provider Responsibilities:
The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position can consist of both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. This may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing and patient care follow-ups. Will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs. Within this position the PA or NP will maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice, this will be outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process.
