Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

  • VA Careers - Psychologist: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) began implementation of the patient centered medical home model now known as PACT (Patient Aligned Care Team) in the beginning of FY10
  • PACT focuses on:- Partnerships with Veterans- Access to care using diverse methods- Coordinated care among team members- Team-based care with Veterans as the center of their PACT Clinical Responsibilities:1
  • Provides functional assessment - triage - brief intervention - and education for a wide range of mental health and behavioral medicine concerns - on referral from primary care providers and allied PACT members.2
  • Provides education to patients - family members - and significant others.3
  • Provides evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions - including individual and group psychotherapy.4
  • Provides consultation to professional staff and to community providers - concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.5
  • Triages appropriately and efficiently to specialty mental health services.6
  • Practice is under the close supervision of a licensed psychologist
  • Administrative responsibilities1
  • Complies with national and local performance measures - including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.2
  • Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures - including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g. - entering diagnostic and procedure codes).3
  • Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Chief (or designee) and facility Director.4
  • Attends Psychology staff meetings and complies with Psychology peer review procedures

  • Research/Program Evaluation 1
  • May contribute to the establishment and maintenance of patient tracking and treatment outcome databases to enable ongoing program evaluation for the TRP.2
  • As requested - analyzes and interprets program evaluation data related to clinical or educational / training programs

  • With approval - may serve on Medical Center - VISN - and/or National VA committees or task forces.2
  • May represent Psychology / Mental Health programs in various workgroups and committees at the Medical Center.3
  • May actively participate in leadership roles on local - state - and national professional organizations.4
  • As assigned - may represent the Medical Center or Psychology / Mental Health at professional organizations / community group events or committees
  • Research:1
  • May engage in non-funded or VA funded research per approval of the supervising psychologist and Chief - Mental Health Service Line.2
  • As function of a concurrent faculty position - may engage in funded or unfunded research activities at the affiliated university medical center and engage.3
  • May publish results of research in scientific - peer-reviewed journals and/or present research findings at scientific meetings
  • Customer Service: Relationships with management - co-workers - patients - and the general public are consistently courteous - respectful - and cooperative in nature
  • Incumbent will display a cooperative attitude and will effectively work together to implement the organization's mission and goals
  • Incumbent will ensure productivity is maintained at the established level for the program for which he/she is responsible
  • Age - Developmental - & Cultural Needs of Patients: The primary age of patients treated and cared for are normally a mixture of adults aged 18 to 59 and senior adults (i.e

  • The position requires the incumbent to possess or develop an understanding of the particular needs of adult and senior adult patients of varied age ranges
  • Sensitivity to the special needs of all patients in respect to age - developmental requirements - and culturally related factors must be consistently achieved
