Distribution Center Outbound Manager
Responsibilities
- Serve as a hands-on, working manager overseeing all outbound functions—from shelf stock through shipping—while managing performance, attendance, training, engagement, retention, and development for the entire outbound team.
- Direct and manage fulfillment for sales orders, transfer orders, manual and robotic picks, small parcel shipments, and LTL/TL freight.
- Ensure order accuracy through effective auditing processes and quality control measures.
- Lead daily operations meetings to review performance, identify issues, and establish the day’s action plan.
- Act as the primary contact for after-hours or weekend emergency order fulfillment (on a rare, as-needed basis).
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards; maintain documentation and enforce accountability.
- Develop, refine, and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, accuracy, and service levels across warehouse operations.
- Track, analyze, and improve key performance indicators to drive operational efficiency.
- Oversee and coordinate appropriate training programs for all outbound employees.
- Partner with supervisors and cross-functional management teams to identify and implement operational improvements.
- Monitor quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of material movement and product storage; perform ongoing logistical analysis and identify innovative solutions.
- Ensure all distribution initiatives include clear goals, measurable outcomes, and ongoing performance tracking.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred ; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
- 5–10 years of progressive work experience, including a minimum of five years in management , with responsibility for supervisors or managers.
- Strong managerial competency with deep knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes; ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of material handling, shipping, receiving, inventory, and returns processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence large teams.
- Strong sense of urgency with exceptional analytical, math, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and foster teamwork across diverse groups.
